Rev. Kevin Merritt - Senior Pastor
Kevin is a native of Virginia and grew up in Massachusetts. After graduating from Catholic University in Washington, DC, Kevin spent 14 years as a buyer/merchandiser in luxury retail companies. In 2004, he sensed a call to ministry and attended Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, where he received an MDiv. Kevin and Liz have been married for 25 years and have three children in college. In addition, Kevin serves as President of the Board of Directors for Hopeline Pregnancy Resource Centers, an organization that helps young women deal with unplannned pregnancies.
Liz Merritt - Minister of Discipleship/Outreach
Liz grew up in Fairfield, and graduated from Skidmore College with a double major in social work and sociology. She worked at the White House and the Congressional Budget Office before becoming a stay-at-home mom when she and Kevin had their first child. In 2007, Liz received a Master of Arts in Religion from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, with an emphasis on women’s ministry. Liz is passionate about building a genuine New Testament community and teaching the Scriptures so each life is truly transformed.
Rachael Johnson - Director of Children's Ministry
Rachael grew up in Westport, and graduated from the University of Virginia with degrees in Psychology and Economics. She loves working with children and desires to teach them the love and truth of Christ. In 2013 and 2014, she spent 11 months traveling to 11 countries serving alongside the local church and proclaiming the good news of Christ. Rachael was married to Jacob Johnson in November, 2015.
Mark & Michelle Persson - Youth Ministry
Mark was born and raised in Sycamore, Illinois, and Michelle grew up in Farmington, Connecticut. They met at Wheaton College where Mark graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies and Ancient Languages and Michelle graduated with a degree in Psychology. Mark is passionate about developing students into devoted followers of Christ. Michelle has served in multiple missions trips to the Dominican Republic with Kids Alive International. Mark and Michelle were married in July, 2015, and are excited to partner together and serve the youth at Stepney. Mark is currently working on his Master of Divinity at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.
